A lantern dedication on the Slaney to honour loved ones we’ve lost and those still with us, lighting both nights of Pulse Festival.
Dedicate a Lantern – Lanterns on the Slaney
How Lantern Dedications Work
(After purchase a lantern dedication, you have two options. You can email us the name and message you’d like written on your lantern, and our team will prepare it for you. Or, you can attend the festival and visit the Lanterns on the Slaney tent, where you’ll have the opportunity to dedicate your lantern in person before it’s released onto the river.)
Lanterns on the Slaney is the emotional heart of the Pulse Festival — a two-day river ceremony that brings our community together through remembrance, reflection, and hope.
On Saturday night, the river becomes a place of memory. Lanterns are gently launched onto the Slaney in honour of those we have loved and lost. It is a quiet, respectful memorial — a moment to pause, reflect, and remember lives that shaped us and remain in our hearts.
On Sunday night, the festival closes with a celebration of life. Lanterns once again light the river, this time representing both those we remember and those who are still with us. It is a powerful celebration of love, pride, resilience, and connection — a reminder that life continues, bonds endure, and community carries us forward.
By dedicating a lantern, you are celebrating:
Someone you have lost but will never forget
Someone you love and appreciate today
Someone who inspires you and makes you proud
Each lantern represents a story, a memory, and a life that matters.
All proceeds from lantern dedications support the Pulse Festival’s community and wellbeing initiatives, helping us create spaces of connection, support, and shared experience.
Light a lantern.
Share a memory.
Celebrate life — past, present, and always.
