I am excited to be running the Dublin Marathon later this year with Team Diabetes Ireland, in memory of my late husband, William F. Jones. I chose to support this charity as I know Bill would be impressed with the work of Diabetes Ireland in supporting and educating the diabetes community. As just a few examples....... Through their advocacy, they obtained free medication for all people with diabetes over 50 years ago. They now operate two care centers in Ireland which provide preventable podiatry services and screenings for diabetic retinopathy. They also provide a large number of educational and support programs, including materials to train teachers on how to handle care of Type I diabetic children in the classroom.
