Christina Hogan fundraising for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2025
I'm running the Dublin City Marathon to raise vital funds for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland, a charity that's incredibly close to my heart. Our eldest son David was born with Spina Bifida in 2018, and since then, we've seen firsthand the impact this condition can have on families. With Ireland having one of the highest rates of Spina Bifida in the world, it's crucial that we support research, care, and advocacy efforts. While folic acid can significantly reduce the risk, it's not a guarantee, and awareness is key – especially for those with a family history or certain health conditions. Recently, David underwent orthopaedic surgery in May 2024, but unfortunately a pin which was inserted slipped, requiring further surgery this February. David then developed a post operative infection. It's experiences like these that highlight the constant challenges children living with Spina Bifida and their families face. Despite these hurdles, SBHI has been a constant source of support, guidance, and reassurance for us. I'm inspired by the resilience of Spina Bifida patients and the dedication of their families, medical teams, and charities like SBHI. Your donation will help make a difference in the lives of those affected. Every euro counts, no donation is too small and together, we can make a real difference.
