Concern Worldwide has been an organisation that I’ve felt very close to throughout my entire life. In primary school, I learned about their Hunger Heroes campaign, teaching children about FairTrade farming and working towards safer working conditions for farmers in the Global South. In secondary school, I participated in their Debates Programme, where young people in Ireland got the opportunity to develop their debating skills, whilst becoming active citizens and engaging with real world issues. Now, I volunteer as an adjudicator helping that same Debates Programme which meant so much to me during my time in secondary school. This amazing charity does so much fantastic work, in Ireland, and around the globe and I’d love nothing more than to be able to reach this goal, and give back to Concern, completing a lifelong personal goal of running the Dublin City Marathon in the process.
