Cathal Dunne fundraising for Diabetes Ireland and Irish Cancer Society in Regeneron Great Limerick Run 2025
On May 4th, I’m running in the Great Limerick Run (6 Mile). It’s my first ever run—literally ‘couch to 6 miles’—and I’ve been training hard since Christmas. I’m doing this to challenge myself and raise money for two causes close to my heart. Cancer has touched every family. My dad battled it twice, along with Parkinson’s, before passing in 2018. He never complained—his motto was, “we’ll go with it.” I miss him every day. A close friend is also fighting cancer again, and I want to help others in similar situations. The Irish Cancer Society funds research and supports families through tough times. I’m also running for Diabetes Ireland. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2022, and managing it daily is tough. But as a nurse once told me, “diabetes shouldn’t stop you doing what you want to do.” This run is my way of proving that. Thanks for visiting my page—any donation or share is hugely appreciated. And don’t forget to cheer me on at the finish line!
