Ashley Murray fundraising for Cancer Trials Ireland CLG in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2010. She completed a course of chemo & radiation & moved on with her life. Unfortunately in March 2015 she discovered that her breast cancer had spread to both lungs, spine, sternum and hip. Its stage IV. Her oncologist Prof Janice Walsh put her on a new protocol and she thrived on it for 9.5 years. In September 2024 she was informed that her treatment had stopped working. She was devastated. A very scary & dark time as she faced her own mortality. She was put on a new drug for 6 months but it didn’t work. Then in March 2025 she was put on her present treatment and so far so good. Being told you have cancer is about as low as it gets but a positive attitude is vital if you’re going to survive. My mom has said “I know that cancer will get me someday but not now! I’m living my best life and hoping to remain stable on this new drug.” My brother climbed Kilimanjaro in 2024 raising significant funds for Irish Cancer Trials and now its my turn .. I am putting on my running shoes to raise funds by doing the Dublin City Marathon. Every step I run is for my mom, for the strength she shows every single day, and the hope clinical trials continue to give families like mine more time together. I couldn't be prouder to call her my mom. An inspiration to all and the reason i'll keep putting one foot in front of the other until I cross that finish line. This ones for you mom. No matter how big or small your donation can make a big difference. Love Ashley
