Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! This year I will be running the Dublin City Marathon, in honour of my uncle Richard (Turbo) Murray. Back in 2015, Richard sadly passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. Richard was a very outgoing, adventurous and some would say eccentric character! He was very inspiring to me and my family and he took on some of life’s greatest adventures, mountaineering around the world. He was a very accepting and open minded individual. He was living in Perth, Australia at the time of his death and his passing was very hard on all of our family but especially my Granny Pat. It was and continues to be important for us as a family to support her and keep his memory alive. Before Richard’s passing I had never heard of sudden cardiac death. Since knowing about sudden cardiac death, I have seen how it has affected multiple family’s both in my community and very close to my family. This is when I discovered CRY. I thought their message was extremely important, helping to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death, providing access to clinical services for families of young people who are living with cardiac conditions, and providing services for families that have been affected by sudden cardiac death. I’ve always wanted to do something in honour of Richard, and I wanted it to be something both mentally and physically challenging, inspired by his mountaineering. When I watched the Dublin City Marathon in October 2024, it clicked. Watching so many people take on the challenge both for themselves and for others was inspiring and I knew I wanted to do it! And I knew exactly who I wanted to do it for, it was CRY. I’m so grateful that CRY have given me this opportunity! I can’t wait to smash it, for CRY, Richard and everyone else who has been affected by sudden cardiac death. All donations are appreciated no matter how small! Your support is really appreciated!
