Course Aim
The workshop will enable coaches to improve their short & long-term training planning. Strength and conditioning have become a vital component of an athletes training to prevent injury and improve their physical capacities.
Our workshop will allow coaches the opportunity to understand the fundamentals of strength and conditioning in a practical environment and they will be invited to get involved in the exercise demonstrations.
Coaches will develop an understanding of -
Fundamental lifting mechanics, identifying proper form and technique.
Utilising bodyweight exercises as a tool for S&C.
Adapting exercises for different ability levels.
Using simple coaching cues to help young athletes improve form and technique.
Incorporate fundamental movement patterns that carry over to track performance.
Upon completion of this workshop, coaches will understand the key exercises necessary for Functional Movement and athletic development, be able to implement safe and effective exercise instruction and apply this into their clubs and training groups.
Coaches will receive an Athletics Ireland strength and conditioning manual upon completion of this course.
This 70page manual provides a step-by-step exercise guide that can be included in training, alongside both adaptations and progressions of each exercise.
Entry Requirements: The S&C Workshop is open to all those 16 years or over.
Assessment/ Qualification: There is no exam.
