Ódhran Cussen fundraising for Oesophageal Cancer Fund in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
On October 25th, I'll be running the Dublin City Marathon in memory of Pat and Eve, and to raise vital funds for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund. In 2022, my girlfriend Lucy's father Pat was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. He fought bravely for two years before passing on the 18th of June 2024. This came after the family had already endured the devastating loss of Pat's daughter, Eve, to Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2022. Despite everything, Pat faced his illness with extraordinary strength, always ready with a joke, a laugh, and a glass of Guinness. Around 520 people are diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in Ireland every year. It's a particularly difficult cancer to treat, and greater awareness and funding make a real difference to those diagnosed and their families. It's an honour to run the Dublin City Marathon in Pat and Eve's memory. Any support you can offer, big or small, would mean the world to me and to Lucy's family.
