Sophie Barnwell fundraising for Parkinson's Ireland in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
In just 12 weeks, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running the Dublin Marathon in aid of Parkinson’s Ireland, in honour of my Dad, Paul, and everyone living with Parkinson’s Disease and the challenges that come with it. Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2021, and since then I’ve seen first-hand the strength, resilience and determination it takes to live with this disease. I’ve also seen the impact it has on the people who love and support those living with Parkinson’s every day. If you know Dad, you’ll know he could make anyone laugh. Even on the toughest days, he’s always the first to crack a joke and put a smile on someone else’s face. He’s taught me one of the greatest lessons in life: no matter what you’re going through, there’s always something to smile about, especially when you’re surrounded by the people you love. In January 2024, I set out to raise money for Parkinson’s Ireland, and thanks to the incredible generosity of so many people, together we raised over €8,000. I was blown away by the kindness and support from everyone who donated, shared my page, and cheered me on. Now, I’m back to do it all again. This time, I’m taking on my biggest challenge yet: the Dublin Marathon. Every kilometre I run will be for Dad, for everyone living with Parkinson’s, and for the families who support them every single day. If you’re able to support me, whether by donating, sharing my fundraising page, or encouraging me over the next 12 weeks, I’d be so grateful. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help Parkinson’s Ireland continue the incredible work they do for people living with Parkinson’s and their families. Thank you for believing in this cause, for supporting my Dad, and for helping me make a difference once again. ❤️
