Richard Dougan fundraising for Cancer Focus NI in Phoenix Energy Belfast City Marathon 2026
Why I’m Taking on This Challenge In 2026, as I approach my 50th year, I’ve set myself a personal challenge - to run the Belfast City Marathon on 3rd May. This isn’t about chasing a time or proving anything. It’s about health and using a personal milestone to support a cause that truly matters. I’m fundraising for Cancer Focus NI, an organisation that provides vital support, care, and guidance to individuals and families affected by cancer across NI. Like many people, I’ve seen how cancer impacts not just those diagnosed, but their families, friends, and wider communities. The work Cancer Focus NI does makes a real difference at times when people need it most. I’ll be sharing weekly updates throughout the training period, offering honest reflections on the ups, downs, and lessons along the way. If sharing this journey encourages even one person to move more, look after their health, or support a cause that matters to them, then it’s worthwhile. Any support - whether through a donation, encouragement, or simply following the journey - is genuinely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting a cause that helps so many across NI.
