My name is Michael O'Brien. I have completed 17 marathons to date and I plan to participate in the 2025 Dublin city marathon after I turn 80 years old. The last marathon that I completed was in 2015, alongside my daughter. I have chosen to fundraise for this charity after hearing of the support that Purple House have given to many people whom have had to live with and to manage a cancer diagnosis. As a grandfather, I have been particularly inspired by our family friend Jane, a 5 year old, whom has required the support of many healthcare professionals and cancer charities in recent months. Additionally, with 6 of my 10 siblings, and many family members and friends, having experienced a cancer diagnosis, hopefully the money raised will support and help some of those affected by cancer.
