Mark Kelly fundraising for Pieta
Dublin marathon On 25-10-2026 I’m repaying a favour to everyone who has helped and guided me to this point in my life. It’s not just a race for me it’s a symbol of what I’ve gone through and will always live with. Then it’s not just about me it’s about everyone else who suffers in silence and doesn’t have a support network around them. The sooner it’s taught to everyone that “ITS OK TO NOT BE OK” is when we can start pushing back against the mental health pandemic that has a grip on life as we know it. The sooner everyone starts talking about the problem and not just ignoring it is when changes happen. My story started on the 19-10-25 in which I tried to take my own life. I don’t know why it didn’t happen and it’s always probably going to be a question I always have. I am the luckiest person in the world to have the best family and friends who helped me and are still helping. I’m not gonna lie and say I’m happy and I’m better cause I’m not but I’m trying I’m giving it a chance and taking one day at a time. That’s the unfortunate thing there is no quick fix for mental health related problems it’s a slow process. It takes time. From my experience I can tell mental health resources in this country are very limited and underfunded. Those who work in this field do amazing work despite the challenges they face. Pieta house do unbelievable work and their volunteers are the unsung heroes who will probably never be truly recognised for the lives they save and help. Pieta has helped me and my family. I will never be able to repay them but if I can at least spread a message and help other people that’s something. If the donation target is reached I will be donating a €1000 of my own funds. Personally I don’t think the money is the main goal here for me it’s about spreading awareness and helping others. If I can help one person just even pick up the phone or start talking in my opinion you can’t put a price on that. REMEMBER ITS OK TO NOT BE OK Thanks for any donations
