Heather and Rose Forever in Bloom- (Laura and Roisín) fundraising for Irish Cancer Society in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026

Heather & Rose – Forever in Bloom 🌸 This year I will be running the Dublin City Marathon this October in memory of two incredible women — my mum Heather, and my friend Roisín’s mum Rose. My mum Heather sadly passed away from cancer in 2010, and although Roisín’s mum Rose was a cancer survivor, she later passed away from a stroke in 2025. Both of our mums faced cancer in their lives with incredible strength, courage and love for their families. Their resilience and kindness continue to inspire us every day, and this fundraiser is our way of honouring their memory. This is our very first fundraiser, and it marks the beginning of something we hope will continue to grow each year in memory of Heather and Rose. In October, I will take on the challenge of running the Dublin City Marathon, raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society, a charity that supports so many individuals and families affected by cancer across Ireland. Some of the funds raised will help cover the costs associated with taking part in the marathon, allowing me to run in honour of both of our mums. Roisín will be helping organise and support fundraising efforts throughout the year, including coffee mornings, bake sales, community walks and other small events. Our hope is to bring people together, raise awareness, and make a positive impact in memory of two women who meant so much to us. Once we reach the amount needed for the marathon, any additional funds raised throughout the year will go towards other charities that are very close to both of our hearts, continuing the spirit of kindness and generosity that both Heather and Rose always showed to others. Every donation, no matter how big or small, truly makes a difference. Thank you for supporting our journey and helping us keep Heather & Rose Forever in Bloom. 🌸

About Irish Cancer Society

Cancer is the most common cause of death in Ireland with more than 9,000 people dying each year. That's almost 25 people dying from cancer every day across Ireland. An average of 1 person every hour. However, thanks to earlier detection, improved care and targeted treatments, more people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, there are 200,000 cancer survivors in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society are working towards a future where nobody dies from cancer, and everyone affected by the disease will have access to world class treatment and support. Typically receiving only 5% of income from the Government, your support helps provide key services to ensure no one has to face cancer alone and funds vital cancer research with over €30 million invested since 2010.
