Luke Gallagher fundraising for AWARE NI in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
This year, I’m running the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 in support of AWARE NI. AWARE NI is a Derry-born charity dedicated to supporting people living with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. They provide free support groups across the country for people experiencing low mood, anxiety or depression. With 24 in-person support groups and online options available, they work hard to ensure that no one has to struggle alone or wait for help. They also deliver mental health and wellbeing programmes in schools, colleges and workplaces throughout Northern Ireland. Just £15 can help one young person access the AWARE “Mood Matters” programme in their school or community. £160 can fund an entire week of a local AWARE Support Group, providing a space for people struggling with depression, anxiety or low mood to talk openly and be heard. Every contribution goes straight back into services across Northern Ireland, helping people who might otherwise face these challenges alone. Mental health affects more families and communities than we often realise. With the ongoing mental health crisis in Derry especially, I’ve seen first-hand how important it is that people have a support network to turn to when things feel overwhelming. Running this marathon is my way of contributing to something bigger than myself and backing a charity that is making a real difference at home.
