Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page for Cliona’s Foundation — your support means a lot. In April and June 2026, me and over 200 other students and teachers from across Ireland will walk 100km of the Camino de Santiago, from Portomarin to Santiago, over 4 days. We’re walking in solidarity with families facing the emotional and financial challenges of caring for a seriously ill child. Each student is raising at least €1,000 — with 100% of funds going directly to Cliona’s Foundation. Though travel costs are covered by ourselves so every little helps. I joined this fundraiser with my school to give support and stand with families who have a seriously sick child and are facing a difficult time financially trying to deal with hospital bills along with the all other expenses. Over 2 years ago my sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. For over 2 weeks my parents had to stay in the hospital with her, which meant that they had to take time of work and have extra expenses on top of everyday costs like heating and electricity. This was a very scary time for us. So when I found out about Cliona’s Foundation and this fundraiser I signed up straight away as I learned how some families have it way worse then we did caring for a seriously sick child. Although my sister was sick we were fortunate enough that it wasn’t as difficult financially as it is for the families that Cliona’s works with. So because of that I want to help families who are going through a tough time in their lives. Thank you very much and every donation big or small counts!

About Cliona's Foundation - Registered Charity Number 20068899

Cliona's Foundation provides nationwide financial assistance to families of seriously sick children to help with the non medical costs of caring for their child while in hospital or at home
There are approx 5,000 children in Ireland with a life limiting condition  and for many of these families the additional cost places them in crisis.
These costs include but are not limited to accommodation, travel, car parking, food, childcare, specialist equipment & much more and can amount to an additional €15,000 a year
For many of these families one of the parents has to give up work to care for their child reducing the household income & placing significant financial pressure on them.
Cliona’s believe that no family should have to face any added financial stress, when already struggling with the devastation and trauma of a seriously ill child.
Cliona’s relies 100% on income raised through a range of activities including events & fundraising, corporate donations, philanthropy & private donations and charity partnerships & have supported 1,900 families over the past 18 years - 186 in 2025.

Thank you for your support

About Camino for Clionas 2026 08th - 13th April

Across five trips in April, & June 2026 over 200 students & their teachers will walk from Portomarin to Santiago , a route of 100 kms over 4 days . It is an amazing experience for everyone
The students will be from schools all across the Country and will be walking in solidarity with families on their own challenging journey as they deal with the emotional & financial pressure of caring for a seriously sick child.

Each of the students have to raise a minimum of €1,000 , 100% of which goes directly to Cliona's , with the cost of travel & accommodation being borne by themselves.

Apart from the serious efforts put into fundraising and the challenge of the walk, all of these students are amazing ambassadors for Cliona's, their families & their schools.
It has been an absolute privilege for Cliona's to have had the company of these amazing young people on our trips in over the past three years
Please support their efforts in anyway you can.
