Jonny Murtagh fundraising for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland

This year, I’m running couch to Marathon — for something bigger than myself. I’ll be taking on this challenge for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI) with all proceeds going directly to the charity. This charity is very close to my heart. Three years ago, my best friend Mikey’s son Luca was born with Spina Bifida. From the moment he arrived, Luca has shown strength and resilience that I’ve never witnessed before. While most of us move through life without thinking twice about the simple things, Luca faces challenges that require courage, patience, and determination — and he does it all with a spirit and a smile that inspires everyone around him. Luca happens to also have the most amazing parents and older brother. In Mikey and Eilis Luca has the most amazing parents who will go to every and all lengths to ensure that he gets the very best in life. That’s why I’m running this marathon. SBHI aim to foster an environment in which every person living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus can lead a fulfilled life. They provide essential information, support and advice to everyone living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus. Over the past couple of years I’ve been involved in smaller fund raising events with SBHI but this year I want to go the extra 26.2 miles and raise some much needed money for this amazing charity.
