grace ryan fundraising for Special Olympics Ireland

Hi everyone! This October, I’m looking to run the Dublin Marathon in support of a charity that means a lot to me and my family: Special Olympics Ireland. TSO gives people with disabilities the opportunity to get active and get involved with sport, whether it’s team or individual. This allows them to improve their social skills and self regulation while also improving their health, fitness and self confidence. Sport is often an important outlet for people, and it is the same for people with disabilities My sister Maria benefits greatly from this: it’s great to see her competitive and determined about something. She is frankly my best friend and I am doing this for her! Any and all support for this amazing charity is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to supporting them while also completing a personal goal of mine.

About Special Olympics Ireland

Special Olympics Ireland is a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability from the age of 4 years old with no upper age limit. Currently almost 8,000 athletes from across the island of Ireland participate in 15 different sports through Special Olympics. Through our sports, health and leadership programmes our athletes learn to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit. They get to learn new skills, increase confidence and most importantly they get to experience the joy of sport and make life-long friendships!
