Eoghan O Brien fundraising for Irish Cancer Society in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
This October, I am embarking on what is my biggest challenge yet – my first-ever marathon. On Sunday 25 October, I will be running the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. This is a cause that is extremely close to my heart, having lost my beloved cousin Elayne (when she was only 33 years old) and my uncle Ted to cancer over 10 years ago, and watched on as they battled so bravely to try and fight this disease. I am doing the marathon to remember them, and the positive impact they have had on my life. As someone who has worked on Oncology studies in clinical research, I know first-hand the potential it has to transform and save other peoples’ lives. By fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society, I hope that in my own small way, I can help fund the research they do to help beat cancer, along with all the other incredible things they do to help and support patients and their families across Ireland. Running 42.2 km is a challenge for sure, but it’s nothing compared to the strength and resilience of those who have had to deal with cancer. Every donation brings me closer to my €2,000 target. I would really love to exceed that number, so any donations at all, no matter how big or small, would be very much appreciated by me. Thank you
