Emma Breslin fundraising for National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2025

Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page. This year, I’m running the Dublin Marathon with my little brother Jonathan to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, and we need your support! Breast cancer affects so many lives, and we’ve seen firsthand how it can impact families. We’re running in honor of our amazing mammy Annette, who fought this battle and won just a couple of years ago and for those who are still fighting. Nothing can prepare you for hearing someone you love utter the words, "Its Cancer" but our Mammys calm demeanour, inspiring attitude, and unwavering strength gave us real hope at the most difficult time, even though it was her who had the battle ahead of her. We believe that every contribution, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to a potential cure for this horrible disease. Thank you for your support—together, we can make a real impact.

Currently, 1 in 7 Irish women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and there are 3,507 cases diagnosed annually which is set to continue to increase. These women are our mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends and neighbours. We know these women, they play major roles in our lives. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway. We know that breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. We want to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future. The research team, in collaboration with universities and hospitals across the globe, focuses on the development & improvement of diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies, to drive real and measurable improvement in clinical outcomes for breast cancer patients.
