Daragh McDonnell fundraising for National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. On 25th October 2026, I will be running the Dublin Marathon for the second time in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI). The NBCRI is a completely publicly funded research organisation, relying solely on donations and fundraising efforts, and receiving no government funding. In Ireland, 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Sadly, I lost my mother in 2021 after a short battle with breast cancer. While huge progress has been made in research, diagnosis and treatment, with survival rates now reaching around 90%, that still means too many families lose someone they love. In my eyes, 10% is still 10% too many. The NBCRI focuses on improving the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer through vital research and innovation. The hope is that continued advancements will lead to better outcomes for those who face this disease in the future. Although I lost my mother a few years ago, I hope that by supporting this incredible charity, we can help make a difference for other families and contribute towards a future where more lives are saved. Any donation, no matter how big or small, is hugely appreciated. Thank you for supporting this amazing cause and for helping me honour the memory of my incredible mother.
