Donna Maskery fundraising for HUGG in Donegal Half Marathon 2025
I am fundraising in memory of my lovely brother Aaron Scott. Aaron was the kind of person you met once and would not forget. He was kind. He was caring, he had empathy and was the biggest supporter of his family and friends. He loved his football, he loved the farm. He loved his sister Linda whom he helped care for. He loved the craic and had time for everyone. Since losing Aaron in 2012 I have tried lots of different things to help and this year I have become involved in HUGG. HUGG is the national suicide bereavement charity dedicated to supporting adults bereaved by suicide. HUGG provides FREE practical information and emotional support after a suicide occurs through the website, telephone helpline, events, webinars and nationwide suicide bereavement support groups. The HUGG vision is that anyone bereaved by suicide can find hope and, in time, healing. I have met such amazing people through my involvement with HUGG. With every person I meet however is the sad realisation that they too are experiencing this unimaginable grief and wading their way through this new reality. On the 24th August I will take on the Donegal half marathon in memory of Aaron and to raise awareness and hopefully a few euro for HUGG. This will be a big challenge for me as I am currently doing about 4k and walking the hills. If you would like to sponsor me please do, I would appreciate any donation no matter the size. If you would like to find out more about HUGG and the wonderful work they do you can visit www.hugg.ie Thank you for taking the time to read this.
