Colm Nagle fundraising for Diabetes Ireland
I have been living with Type 2 Diabetes since 2004. In 2017 I needed to reduce my weight and get my sugar levels under control so I took up running. It took me 6 mths to complete my 1st 5k Park Run in Ardgillan Park Balbriggan (without any walking) and I've been running ever since. In Dec 2021 I ran the Run with Ray half Marathon in the phoenix park. My next challenge was to try run a full Marathon. 2022 at the age of 66 I ran my 1st Dublin City Marathon raising much needing funds for Diabetes Ireland. Running has become an essential part of my life, for both my physical and mental health. I rarely miss my Saturday 5K Park Run and most weeks will run 3 days clocking up 30 to 50k. This year, I’m running my 5th consecutive Irish Life Dublin Marathon and decided to again use the event to raise funds for Diabetes Ireland. 26.2 miles, that’s the distance between comfort and courage, between an ordinary day and a moment that could truly change lives. Every mile I run is a reminder of why I’m doing this, for my own health and to make a real difference for those who need it most. It’s not just about crossing a finish line; it’s about showing up, pushing through, and turning effort into impact. Your support — whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply cheering me on — means more than words can say. Together, we can take every step a little further. Every mile matters. Every gesture helps. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
