Chris Leavy fundraising for Irish Cancer Society

In October 2026, I am honoured to be part of the Irish Cancer Society team running the Dublin Marathon on Sunday October 26. Every mile of the Dublin Marathon I am running will mean something so so much more this year. I am running this not just for the challenge, but for my daughter — my brave girl Ella— who was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2025 and also for all others who have been diagnosed or impacted by cancer. Watching your child face something so frightening changes you forever. It teaches you what real strength looks like, what hope feels like on the hardest days, what is really important in life and how powerful support can be when you need it most. I will run this race for Ella, and for every child and family walking a similar road. I will run in gratitude for the incredible doctors, nurses, and carers. I will run to raise funds and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society, whose work makes a real difference to families like ours when it matters most. This marathon will be about love, resilience, and believing in brighter days ahead and trying not to pass out before I cross the finish line …. I ask for any donations you can provide to me in aid of this incredible charity. Thank you to everyone who will donate, support, and cheer — you will carry me every step of the way and your donations will go directly towards so many family’s and people impacted by cancer. 💚🩷🏃‍♂️ #DublinMarathon #IrishCancerSociety #RunningFormybabygirl #ChildhoodLeukaemia #Hope #Strength #TogetherWeCan

About Irish Cancer Society

Cancer is the most common cause of death in Ireland with more than 9,000 people dying each year. That's almost 25 people dying from cancer every day across Ireland. An average of 1 person every hour. However, thanks to earlier detection, improved care and targeted treatments, more people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, there are 200,000 cancer survivors in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society are working towards a future where nobody dies from cancer, and everyone affected by the disease will have access to world class treatment and support. Typically receiving only 5% of income from the Government, your support helps provide key services to ensure no one has to face cancer alone and funds vital cancer research with over €30 million invested since 2010.
