Our little Aida has been fighting battles since the moment she arrived. From NICU to her first blue lights ambulance at just six weeks old, after a battle and a whole lot of Mother’s instinct we got her transferred into the care of Crumlin Hospital and they truly saved her life. I will never forget those days. The sound of her breathing, the pale skin, constant fear, the uncertainty, the waiting… but also the unbelievable kindness, expertise, and compassion of every single person who cared for her. We owe so much to them. Since then, Aida’s journey hasn’t been simple. She lives with a number of neurological and developmental challenges, and she is currently under multiple specialist teams across both Crumlin and Temple Street including neurology, neurodisability, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, and other departments who monitor, support, and guide every step of her care. There have been so many appointments, scans, assessments, and unknowns. We’ve had days that broke us and days that healed us. And through all of it, Aida continues to amaze everyone who meets her. She works harder than most adults I know. She beats goals that were never guaranteed. She breaks barriers people weren’t sure she would ever push through. She carries a strength that is far bigger than her tiny body. And because she never gives up, neither will I. That’s why I am taking on this challenge, something completely outside my comfort zone, something I never thought I’d do. I’m doing it for her, and for every child who needs a hospital bed, a specialist team, a chance, and a fighting start. CHI has given my daughter life, hope, and a future. This is my way of giving something back. The money raised goes directly to supporting the incredible hospitals and staff who care for children like Aida every single day.
