Carl Douglas fundraising for Epilepsy Ireland
Why I’m running the Dublin Marathon for Epilepsy Ireland On 23rd December 2024, my friend Steven tragically passed away due to epilepsy. His death was devastating and highlighted just how serious, unpredictable, and often misunderstood this condition can be. This cause is deeply personal to me — I had epilepsy as a child. I was fortunate to grow out of it, but I know first-hand how frightening epilepsy can be, not just for the person living with it, but for their family and loved ones as well. Epilepsy affects over 45,000 people in Ireland, and many still face stigma, lack of awareness, and limited access to support. Epilepsy Ireland provides vital services including education, advocacy, and direct support to individuals and families living with epilepsy every day. Running is something I take seriously. My most recent big race was the Lisburn Half Marathon, which I completed in 1 hour 40 minutes. I’m now fully focused on preparing for the Dublin Marathon, using this challenge as a way to honour Steven’s memory and support an incredible cause. Any donation — big or small — is hugely appreciated and will make a real difference. Thank you for your support. Carl Douglas Dublin Marathon 2026 Running for Epilepsy Ireland
