Hi, I have signed up to run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 to raise vital funds for Cancer Care West . This will be my first marathon. Although I have previously competed in multi sports, my longest run before this year was 10km. I know this is going to be a huge challenge for me: I work shift work, have 4 young kids (a very understanding wife!), had a few knee operations along the way, and I'm going to try run it in 3 hours😬 This, however, is nothing compared to the challenge people fighting cancer face, and this will be the driving force to get me through the long miles. I'll be driven especially by the memory of my late father-in-law Tom, who passed away in 2020 from pancreatic cancer. And in honour of my mother Mary, who beat her own cancer diagnosis. Tom himself ran multiple Dublin marathons, and would no doubt have had some words of advice for me . Your support , whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply cheering me on is very much appreciated.
