Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for helping to support a cause that is so important to many people but often one that goes unseen. My own mother has been suffering with her eyesight for many years and it has now degenerated to the point of blindness. It is an awful condition that not only affects those that suffer from it, but also those around them that care for them The work that Fighting Blindness do to assist people transistioning into a life of blindness and to help prepare them and their families to deal with new realities is so important. Having to learn to adapt to a whole new way of not just living, but experiencing life can be incredibly difficult. Also, the huge amount of time, effort and expertise that is being put into researching cures, preventions and treatments for all sorts of blindness is such vital work and should be supported. Running for me has been a enormous part of my life over the last couple of years and I feel incredibly priveledged to be able to just lace up my shoes and hit the road without having to figure out the logistics of assistance. I am trying to learn not to take my sight for granted and if raising money through the Dublin Marathon this year can go some way to helping someone else experience an easier life, it will be such a worthwhile endeavour.
