ARFID Advocacy Ireland is a start-up charity raising awareness, building understanding, and supporting families affected by Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
ARFID is a newly recognised eating disorder increasingly seen among children, adolescents, and adults in Ireland. Families often face long waits for assessment and treatment, limited professional understanding, and a lack of trusted support. Many describe feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unheard.
At the same time, professionals such as teachers, GPs, and HSE staff are meeting more children with ARFID but often lack clear, evidence-based guidance. This leaves families struggling and young people without the care they need.
We’re working to change that - connecting families, sharing reliable information, and building national understanding of ARFID.
Help us ensure no one in Ireland faces ARFID alone.
