Story

The 40th Streets of Galway 8K on 8 August 2026 is an 8km road race, organised by Galway City Harriers around the streets of Galway City.

Since its inception in 1986 the event has grown into one of the most prestigious road races in the country, yet remains true to its original motto of Sport for All, as many locals and visitors take on the event year in year out.

The event will bring thousands of participants onto the streets of our city and suburbs into what is a fantastic event for the city.

The Streets is a fast and flat 8k race routing around Galway City, Salthill and the famous Claddagh.

It attracts thousands of runners from all walks of life to the city on a superb summers evening in the City of the Tribes.

Race Start is 7pm at Fr Griffin Road in the city centre and Race finish is at South Park. HQ is the Claddagh Hall at Nimmos Pier. Entry is open now on Eventmaster at;

Important - Race is only open to over 16s for safety and insurance reasons. ID will be required.
