This will take place on Friday, 20th July 2018 in the University of Limerick
The aim of this course is to demonstrate the use of the accessibility features in the iOS operating system and a list of specific apps to support students with learning difficulties in their education. Attendees will receive training on the free supports and strategies built into the iPad to support dyslexic learners. The course will also cover a suite of apps to support dyslexic learners, including specific strategies to support these learners, these will include both professional and free apps. This course will be of particular benefit to students with learning difficulties.
Participants will learn to utilise the accessibility features within the iOS.
• Participants will get an opportunity to trial a suite of apps to targeted towards supporting students with specific learning difficulties.
Strategies covered in this course include;
• Text to speech
• Creating alternative formats - audio files & books
• Utilising Spellchecking
• Intro to Voice Recognition
• Utilising Highlighters & Summaries
• Colour enhancements
• Participants will also get resources on where to get further training and knowledge independently after the course.
Participants can use our equipment or bring their own iPad.
This one day course is suitable for:
Students with dyslexia, students struggling with literacy and other learning difficulties, and parents.
Teachers supporting pupils with SEN.
Full-time Special Education Teachers who are currently working with students with special education needs.
Educational professionals and support personnel including, SEN Coordinators, Special Needs Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, support workers working in disability organisations and charities.
