Sea Safari with West Cork Kayak Club

This event will involve a guided paddle on single or double sea kayaks around Tragumna with experienced experts. 

Catherine Russell, Environmental educator and marine biologist will guide participants to investigate the fauna and flora of the bay whilst considering the tidal affects . Also discussing biodiversity, the impacts of climate change and what we can do to stop the spread of invasive species. 

Dr Debbie Heaphy, Environmental Scientist / Sustainability leader and Educator, will talk about Landscapes, ecosystems and links to communities and of course paddle sports.

 Amy Walsh, Masters in Outdoor Education and Wellbeing will talk about using the Outdoors for health.

The group will do some activities to connect to nature for our mental health. The group will also discuss the "Sustainability code" used by West Cork Kayak Club that guides their interactions in nature to ensure the promotion and protection the areas they use.

This event is suitable for people 16 years of age and over. No prior experience is needed but some fitness is required. Equipment will be provided but you will need to bring your own wetsuit and closed shoes that can get wet. 

This event is weather dependent and confirmation will be issued 24 hours in advance.
