Darkness Into Light - Crisis Centre of BC

Darkness Into Light 2026 is a global 5 km walk that begins before dawn at approximately 4:15 am on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 (we will gather beforehand at 4:00 am). As the sun rises, communities across the world will walk together from darkness into light in support of suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

 

This powerful event is more than a walk. It is a shared moment of hope, remembrance, and solidarity. In the early hours of the morning, we come together as a community to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support lifesaving work for people experiencing crisis.

 

We invite you, our community, to walk with us to honour those we have lost to suicide and hold space for each other as well as those who may be struggling right now.

 

Our team of staff and volunteers delivers a wide range of services focused on crisis support, suicide prevention, and support after suicide loss. Through education, training, and direct support, we help individuals and communities build resilience and strengthen their capacity to respond to life’s most challenging moments.

 Event Accessibility: This event includes a 5 km walk along a flat, paved path in Burnaby Lake Regional Park. As the walk takes place in the early morning, visibility may be low in some areas. Free, public parking is available close to the walk location. Wheelchair accessible parking spots and washrooms are available in the park.
