Tra Walk of Sliabh Beagh

Monaghan Sports Partnership is delighted to offer a FREE guided hike of the Tra Walk of Sliabh Beagh in partnership with Knockatallon Ramblers.

Starting point of the walk will be at Sliabh Beagh Hotel Car Park. The walk traverses through forestry tracks and upland blanket bog of Sliabh Beagh. Enjoy panoramic views as you approach the summit of Sliabh Beagh. On a clear day, fourteen counties are visible from this walk.

The meeting point for participants is Sliabh Beagh Hotel Car Park on Saturday 27th September at 10:30am. 

The walk is estimated to take approx 4hrs but please allow for longer as regular breaks and lunch must be factored in.

This walk will be lead by experienced walk leaders who have completed this walk before.

The Tra Walk takes in the beauties of nature and will promote the benefits of the outdoors on both physical and mental well-being.

This Hike is moderate with a difficult section. Some level of fitness is required.

Essentials Needed to take part:

• Hiking Boots / comfortable walking footwear advisable
• Waterproof gear in case of inclement weather
• A Backpack/Rucksack
• Packed Lunch and plenty of Fluids

What other gear do I need:

• Wear comfortable clothing like - leggings, tracksuit bottoms, breathable T-Shirt and fleece & an extra warm layer.
• Be ready for the rain and pack a rain jacket and rain
  trousers.
• A hat and gloves to keep you safe from the wind even in Summer.
• Wear good sturdy walking shoes or hillwalking boots with woolly or synthetic socks.
• Have a backpack with water, sandwiches and snacks, coffee, tea or else.
• Don’t forget to bring first aid kit with plaster and bandages, personal medicine, inhaler, EpiPen etc.
