Core and Shoulders with Róisín Cahill

Canoeing Ireland is delighted to have Bridge the Gap Ambassador, 2x ICF World Medalist and reigning U23 European Champion in Ocean Racing Róisín Cahill deliver a 45 minute workshop on core and shoulders for paddlesports. 

Aswel as being an accomplished athlete, Róisín, a secondary school teacher in her final year of a Masters of Physiotherapy at UL, has experience working in Neuro Rehab, Intensive Care and also with the Sporting community, including swimmers and female rugby players. 

Throughout the 45 minute workout, you will combine and progress your learning from the shoulder workshop presented by Amy Walsh and the Physiology for Paddlesports with Jon Mackey. 

This workout will offer shoulder and core exercises specific to the biomechanics of paddling. 

 

The session is open to all; variations are offered for all exercises. 

Róisín will be available to answer any questions at the end in a Q&A format

 

What you’ll need:

  • A mat (and room to move around it)
  • Theraband (if you don’t have one leggings or tights can be used)
  • Physioball (if you don’t have one a soccer ball will do)
  • Chair 
  • 1L Bottle of Water
  • Paddle (or broomstick/brush) 

 

 Note: The workout will be in a Webinar format on Zoom so you won't need to have your cameras on. The questions at the end will be done through the chat function.
