Embark on the ultimate adventure with The Great East Clare Hill Challenge on Saturday, July 6th. Brace yourself for a demanding 30KM hike across the breathtaking hills of East Clare, soaking in panoramic views from the summit of Moylussa (elevation 532M) and continuing the journey to the iconic 12 O’Clock Hills (elevation 309M).

This strenuous hill hike is a test of endurance and will take approximately 8 hours to complete. Commencing at 8 am on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, the expedition kicks off from Two Mile Gate in Killaloe, providing convenient toilet facilities.

The route ascends Moylussa and traverses the scenic Slieve Bearnagh, leading you through the enchanting Enchanted Lake. A descent into Broadford village awaits, offering a refreshing break with access to a shop, café, and toilet facilities.

From Broadford, the journey continues with a challenging ascent up Hurdlestown, navigating hills and bogland terrain. The grand finale awaits as you conquer the 12 O’Clock Hills, culminating in a triumphant finish at the Belvoir carpark.

Registration/Sign-In: Open from 7:00 AM at Ballycuggaran Beach, Two Mile Gate

Important Information
Facilities: There is a public toilet available at the registration point. Please note, this will be the last toilet you will encounter until Broadford.
Mandatory Gear: For your safety, boots with ankle support are mandatory for all hikers.
Safety Notice: Anyone struggling with the initial Moylussa hill climb will not be permitted to continue. You may address this during registration confirmation.

We will commence the challenge promptly at 8:00 AM, so please ensure you arrive early to complete the registration process and be ready for the start.
Come Prepared: Please bring a sufficient supply of water to keep you hydrated, a sufficient supply of snacks to maintain your energy levels, and wear appropriate clothing—layers are best.
