Commissaires Upgrade Course January 2024

 The College of Commissaire are proposing to run an upgrading course for Grade B Cycling Ireland Commissaires wishing to upgrade to Grade A Commissaires, on January 27th & 28th 2024 at Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne Co. Meath. The course will be subject to having adequate numbers eligible and committed to attending with a view towards upgrading. The cost of the course is €50.

The additional responsibility that Grade A Commissaires take on is indicated within the Cycling Ireland General Administritive Regulations, Technical Regulations & Procedues, the latest version of which can be found on the Cycling Ireland webste.

Course details 

As detailed in Cycling Ireland Rules the Upgrading Course would take place over a weekend, at the end of the course participants must sit a written and oral examination. The pass mark for this examination is 80%.

The A Grade will then be awarded after a Practical Examination which will take place at an event they are appointed to cover in 2024-2025. For this event they will be assessed by a UCI Commissaire.

At this stage your attention is drawn to the below mentioned requirements for eligibility to the course.

Experience

The College has come up with the following criteria which should be met before anyone can attend the course.

• Participants must have been an active Grade B Cycling Ireland Commissaire for a period of at years least three years.

• In that three year period they must have acted as a Commissaire on at least 10 events of various types.

• In this period they must have acted as Chief Commissaire at a Provincial Championship, or Commissaire at a National Championship.

• Also in this period they must have acted as Commissaire at a Stage Race of 3 days or longer.

The above criteria has been drawn up to ensure participants have gained the relevant experience required, to act as a Cycling Ireland Grade A Commissaire and is not exhaustive.
