Play it Green: Meath GAA Climate Action Month - in partnership with Meath County Council Climate Action

Through interactive workshops, inspirational guest speakers, and the presence of Meath’s inter-county stars, the event will highlight practical ways our community can reduce waste, protect biodiversity, and take climate-conscious actions both on and off the pitch.

Event Programme

  1. Launch of Water Station & Reusable Bottle Initiative
    • In collaboration with Meath County Council Climate Action Office.
    • Promoting refill culture to reduce single-use plastics.
  1. Meet the Players & Signing Session
    • Senior inter-county players from all codes signing bottles, jerseys, footballs, and sports gear.
    • Sustainability-themed Pop-up Photo Booth with recycled props and a custom Meath GAA backdrop.
  1. Intergenerational Upcycling WorkshopThe Wizard of Creation
    • Old jerseys transformed into tote bags, with the option for autographing by players and management.
  1. Biodiversity Walk & Green Fingers Workshop
    • Weather-dependent guided walk by sustainability committee experts.
    • Planting activities for all ages, promoting pollinator-friendly practices.
  1. Sustainability Masterclasses & Children’s Workshops
    • Guest speakers on climate resilience and circular living.
    • Furniture upcycling demos, herbal workshop, and inclusive hands-on activities for children.
  1. Herbal & Upcycling Demonstrations
    • Practical, creative sessions on getting the best from nature, whilst also reusing and repurposing everyday materials.
  1. Meath GAA Swap Shop
    • Exchange Meath gear and football boots (no club-specific gear).
    • Hangers, tables, and token system provided by Meath County Council to encourage reuse and reduce waste
