GAP MTB presents The Maxxis Mega Lit IDMS Finale 2026

19th/20th  September 2026

The final round of the 2026 Irish Downhill Mountain Bike Series returns to The GAP, where the season champions will be crowned.

One last weekend. One last race. One last chance to put everything on the line.

Expect a fast, technical track packed with big features, committed lines and plenty of opportunities to make or break a race run. With overall series titles still to be decided, the finale promises close racing across every category.

But the GAP MTB Maxxis Mega Lit is about more than racing.

We're turning the weekend into a celebration of Irish downhill mountain biking with a buzzing race village, live music, games, the legendary Classic Cup, great food and a few surprises along the way.

Whether you're racing, supporting friends or simply soaking up the atmosphere, this is the weekend to finish the season in style.

What's happening?

  • Final round of the 2026 Irish Downhill MTB Series
  • Overall Series Champions crowned
  • Saturday Seeding Runs
  • Sunday Race Runs
  • Classic Cup (26" bikes only)
  • Saturday entertainment in the Race Village at Grizzly's
  • Music, games and a mystery DJ set
  • Limited edition Maxxis Mega Finale memorabilia T-shirts available throughout the weekend

There’ll also be a dedicated Wellness Area at Tighnalluis for the Mega Lit Finale, giving riders a place to recover, reset and recharge across the weekend. A huge thanks to Tighnalluis for coming on board as one of our main event sponsors and helping us make the 2026 finale something special both on and off the trails.

Rider Information

Downhill (DH) mountain biking is an extreme sport carrying a significant risk of serious injury or death.

The racecourse includes steep descents, loose terrain, jumps, drops, rocks, roots and technical features. Course conditions may change throughout the weekend depending on weather and rider traffic.

This event is intended for experienced downhill mountain bikers. Riders should possess the skills and experience required to safely compete on challenging downhill terrain.

All competitors must ride a bike suitable for downhill racing that is maintained in a safe condition. Riders using unsuitable or unsafe equipment may be refused permission to race without refund.

A full-face helmet is mandatory.

Knee protection, gloves, elbow protection and back protection are strongly recommended for all riders and are mandatory for Youth, Juvenile and Junior categories in accordance with Cycling Ireland regulations.

Under 18 competitors must be entered by a parent or guardian, who must remain at the venue throughout practice and racing.

Cycling Ireland Mountain Bike Rules and Regulations apply throughout the event.

A practice ban will be in place for the two weeks preceding the event. Any rider found practising the course during the ban period will be disqualified without refund.
