Event Description:

This course aims to demonstrate the use of the accessibility features in the iOS operating system and a list of specific apps to support students with learning difficulties in their education. Attendees will receive training on the free supports and strategies built into the iPad to support dyslexic learners. The course will also cover a suite of apps to support dyslexic learners, including specific strategies to support these learners, these will include both professional and free apps.

Participants will benefit from the EATC’s trainers 15+ years of experience supporting students with specific learning difficulties using assistive technology. Specific strategies on how to support students with specific learning difficulties(dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc. )in primary, post-primary & third level will be demonstrated;

Participants will learn to utilise the accessibility features and strategies in iOS.

Participants will get an opportunity to trial a suite of apps targeted towards supporting students with specific learning difficulties.

  • Text to speech
  • Creating alternative formats – audio files & books
  • Utilising Spellchecking
  • Intro to Voice Recognition
  • Colour enhancements
  • Participants will also get resources on where to get further training and knowledge independently after the course.
