This is a 600km Audax which also gives riders the opportunity to become and end to ender (Mizen - Malin)
Starting in Schull the route heads down to Mizen head, then turns north for the ride to Malin head. Entrants can get accommodation near Schull before the event. The 600km must be completed in 40 hours. Riders depart at 6am Saturday. They can get a dawn photo at Mizen Head and make it to Malin Head before closing time on Sunday.
The culture of Audax is based on self-reliance. Routes are not marked, there are no Marshals, and riders typically navigate using a GPS or with routesheet giving turn-by-turn instructions. There are no support vehicles and if you go off course or have a mechanical problem, you are expected to take responsibility for making your own repairs on the road, or finding your own way home.
