A leisure cycle of 60Km, 80Km or 120Km commencing at Clooney/Quin GAA Grounds in memory of Des Lynch.
Following the decision to postpone the Cycle4Des two weeks ago due to the yellow weather warning, the event will now take place on Saturday, October 19th.
An Updated Link to the Eventmaster Ticket page will be available tomorrow. We are a small group of local people who are undertaking a momentous challenge to raise not only funds but awareness around Oesophageal Cancer. About 500 people are diagnosed with it in Ireland every year.
Our dad, Des Lynch was an amazing man. An incredible father, husband, grandfather, friend, uncle, brother, and a proud member of the local community from which he got so much strength and to which he gave so much. On the 26th August 2020, Des was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer. He battled so hard with the disease which took him from our gracious care on 30th September 2021. To celebrate our father, his commitment to his family and to his community of Clooney Quin, we are raising money for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF).
The OCF is a national charity for Oesophageal Cancer with a focus on bringing better awareness of Oesophageal Cancer, the risks and symptoms and delivering early diagnosis and successful treatments.
To raise this money, we are getting on our bikes! “Cycle4Des” will take place on Saturday 19th October 2024 departing Clooney Quin and cycling to Athenry and returning to Quin.
