Winter Solstice Walk 2025

Mark the day before the shortest day and the longest night, with light as we begin our journey towards spring. Celebrate the rebirth of the sun with a night-time walk through the woods and enjoy festive mulled wine and a mince pie at the end. Without the winter darkness, spring wouldn’t be as rewarding!

MEETING: Belvoir Car Park from 5.30pm
WHEN: Saturday 20th December 2025
WALK START TIME: 6pm SHARP
LENGTH OF WALK: 7KM from the Belvoir Car Park to the Mass Rock, this walk will take you along forestry roads and up through woodland (mucky terrain).

A reasonable level of fitness is required. The elevation gain is 155m.

WHAT IS NEEDED: All walkers MUST have a torch, wear warm clothing and have suitable footwear (hiking boots are ideal)

• Age Restriction: Not suitable for children under 8 years
• Cost: €4 per person (pre-booking required)
• Extras: Mulled wine, hot chocolate, and mince pies at the end
• Restrictions: No dogs or buggies permitted
• Gear: Warm clothing, sturdy boots, and a handheld or head torch required – it will be dark
