Youth Kayak Academy Winter Term

The principle aim of the Youth Kayak Academy is to provide paddling opportunities for young paddlers to continue their participation in the sport.

It is open to anyone between the ages of 10 and 16 who have attended kayak camps with us before.

All the sessions will be located at the Training Centre

1. Sessions will be one day a week over 8 weeks. (1st Oct - 19th Nov)
2. Sessions will be over three hours from 10.00 - 13.00 & 14.00 – 17.00 pm 
3. The focus on this term is Level 3 Kayak Skills and moving water.
4. Shower facility will be available
5. Centre will supply Buoyancy Aids, Helmets , kayaks , paddles and spray decks . Wetsuits will be available however participants will be asked to supply their own if possible
6. Some River Trips may be organised over the term.

What to bring

The Training Centre will supply all the kayaking gear. Students need to bring appropriate clothing for under the wetsuit, Shorts/Swimming gear, warm fleece/hoodie or thermal that can get wet and also old runners and a towel

Sessions will be based from  Canoeing Ireland Training Centre on the Strawberry Beds
