WOW - Off Road - Carn Wheelers

Cycling Ireland's Gearing Up is a progressive mountain bike skills programme designed for beginners.  It covers the fundamental skills required for cycling in an off-road environment.

This course is led by Audrey Gallagher from Carn Wheelers

'Ive been riding bikes for a while..I started on a hybrid I called 'Horse', I moved onto a 'proper' road bike and I enjoyed riding with my club, Carn Wheelers. 

I was introduced to mountain biking by my other half and something clicked - absolute freedom, forests, fresh air and adrenaline.  BUT it felt like I was the only woman out there. I met a fellow lady shredder on the trails and we started to reach out to other women.  Now we have a great network of Ladies Who Shred NI and we meet up regularly for social spins.  The atmosphere is always fun and filled with support and encouragement and often theres more chat and banter than actual riding. 

Womens mountain biking has exploded over the last couple of years and I'm excited about the WOW Off Road program and the opportunity to introduce more women to this awesome sport.  There's always new places to explore and skills to hone - every days a school day.'

Audreys group will meet at Garvagh Mountain Bike trails starting on Tuesday 14th June at 6.30pm for eight weeks.

Requirements - a working mountain bike, helmet, gloves and the desire to have fun!

Please note the registration fee includes a Cycling Ireland Leisure Membership valid until 31st Dec 2022 and is further subsidised by Carn Wheelers.
