St Brendan’s AC will host the Banna Run 5k & 10k on Sunday, 6th August 2023 at 9.30am in Banna, Ardfert, Co Kerry.

This is one of the club’s main fundraisers and your support is very much appreciated on the day. It has been a very busy year at St Brendan’s AC. The club is growing year on year and these fundraising events are so important as they contribute to the continued success of our club.

St Brendan’s AC is a vibrant club in the rural North Kerry area, the club caters for athletes of all ages from juveniles through to masters. The club has a proud history with many club, county and national medals won to date at all age levels. The club is also about keeping fit, being healthy, providing a social outlet and encouraging participation. The route is relatively flat, perfect for chasing PB’s and all finishers will get a medal. Tasty home cooked treats will be available after the race and is enjoyed by all each year.

This year we are helping Banna Sea Rescue celebrate their 40th anniversary. Banna Rescue is a voluntary inshore and land rescue unit covering one of the busiest and one of the best beaches in the country. They respond to emergencies on a 24/7/365 basis and their boats patrol from Brandon Head to Kerry Head including Tralee Bay.  www.bannarescue.org.

Please note that Athletics Ireland introduced a €2 charge in January 2023. This means Non AAI members will be charged an additional €2 to take part in this event and is transferred directly to Athletics Ireland.

The price of the event is as follows :

10k - €20 (AAI member)

10k - €22 (Non AAI member)

5k - €12  (AAI member)

5k - €14 (Non AAI member)

Juvenile 5k Entry (Aged 13-19yrs on day of event) €8

  • Online Registrations until the event sells out.
  • Max of 250 entries.
  • Walkers are also very welcome to take part.

Start of the race is 750m approx. from the Banna Sea Rescue. To compete in the 5k, participants have to be aged 13 or older on the day of the event as per Athletics Ireland guidelines. This is a permitted event. To compete in the 10k participants need to be aged 15 or order on the day of the event.

The men’s winner of the 10k will be presented with the Tom O’Riordan Memorial Shield and the first lady of the 10k will be presented with the Chris O’Shea Memorial Shield.

The routes are AAI certified and this is a permitted road race. Chip timing will be provided by My Run Results.

St Brendan’s AC look forward to welcoming you all to Ardfert again this year on 6TH August. It is an event that is enjoyed by all.
