Event Description:

On Saturday January 12th 2019, the well community festival, WellComm will connect people, of all ages for their health and wellbeing for the first time.

With the many demands placed on our lives it can be difficult to prioritise our health and wellbeing and very few of us lead as healthy a life as we might wish.

We want to show everyone in Cork and Kerry that being healthy isn’t as difficult as you might think. Rather than making big, radical changes to your daily routine, you can get where you want to go through lots of little alterations.

The focus will be on fun drawing from the START campaigns resources of play activities and the Healthy cities Playful Paradigm. Local organisations will be running a packed programme of activities.

There will be healthy cooking demonstrations and tastings, and watch out for appearances by celebrities who will be sharing their advice on healthy habits.

Screenings for blood pressure, BMI and diabetes will be available on site. Take away a Know Your Numbers Card and get to know your own body metrics.

The event is being run in conjunction with Cork Local Sports Partnership Operation Transformation Walk which is promoted nationally. The start and finish of the walk will be at Terence MacSwiney College.

A key aim of the event will be to start a new conversation about people’s health and
wellbeing, and to support people to think about, and make positive changes to their life

The event is free of charge and will take place from 11-3 in Terence McSwiney Community College and CityNorth Learning Campus adjacent to St Marys Health Campus Knocknaheeny / Hollyhill, Cork.
