Ballisodare Bay Cycling Club - Annual Charity Cycle

Event Description:

Ballisodare Bay Cycling Club welcomes you to participate in our Annual Charity Cycle to raise funds for St. Cecilia's Special Education School and for Croí Heart & Stroke Foundation.

** Please note the cycle will commence at Ballisodare New Community Centre on Station/Union Road (F91 YK76).

All cyclists must sign-in on the morning of the event to receive a food voucher for the meal at the finish and for emergency details (should they be needed).

Two distances available, a relatively flat 60km route and a more challenging 100km route.

60km Route Map

60km route: Starting at 9.30am it takes in a scenic route beginning at Ballisodare Community Centre and heading out through Ballygawley, Sooey and Coola towards Riverstown where the journey then takes you around scenic Lough Arrow onto the Boyle road near Kilmactranny and from there on into the village of Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon where there will be a half-way break for refreshments at Ballyfarnon Community Centre.

The cycle then heads back into County Sligo through the villages of Geevagh, Sooey & Ballygawley returning via Union Road back to Ballisodare Community Centre for a lovely hot tasty meal at the finish.

100km Route Map

100km route: Starting at 9.00am it follows the same starting route as the 60km out as far as Riverstown, it then diverts out to Drumfin taking a left onto the old N4 and then taking a right for Ballymote (L1502) following a loop around to Castlebaldwin village where it then crosses the new N4 roundabout heading towards Highwood with a nice steep hill climb up by Cromleach Lodge taking in some beautiful scenery overlooking Lough Arrow. The route will take you out onto the Boyle road at Kilmactranny crossroads and from there on into the village of Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon for refreshments at Ballyfarnon Community Centre.

The route then heads out through Keadue, by scenic Lough Allen and on into the County Leitrim villages of Drumkeeran & Dromahair before returning back into County Sligo through the villages of Ballintogher & Ballygawley and then back to Ballisodare Community Centre via Union Road for a lovely hot tasty meal at the finish.

Registration for both routes is €30 for Cycling Ireland members.

An additional fee of €20 will be charged to non-members of CI for a one day licence.
