Run, Walk, Chase and Have Some Fun at the Big Barn Bash!

As part of the Big Barn Bash – Family Food & Drink Festival, taking place at Coppenagh Farm on Saturday, 31 October 2026, Active Carlow, Carlow County Council, Carlow Tourism and Coppenagh Farm are delighted to launch the inaugural Coppenagh Coo 5km Carlow Chase.

This brand-new 5km event promises to bring together runners, walkers, families, local clubs and visitors for a fun-filled morning of activity, followed by a full day of food, entertainment and family fun at the Big Barn Bash.

Whether you're looking to chase a personal best (PB), enjoy your first ever 5km, get active with the family, run with friends or simply take part in the fun, the Coppenagh Coo 5km Carlow Chase is designed for everyone.

A 5km for Everyone

The Coppenagh Coo 5km Carlow Chase will take place on a flat, out-and-back course, making it an ideal event for runners of all abilities. Experienced runners can use the course to target a new PB, while those new to running can take on the challenge at their own pace.

Walkers and families are also encouraged to get involved and make a morning of it. And, of course, with the event taking place as part of the Big Barn Bash, there will be plenty of opportunity to celebrate your achievement afterwards!

The Big Barn Bash

The Big Barn Bash – Family Food & Drink Festival is a brand-new two-day family festival celebrating food, farming, family, activity and the very best of what Carlow has to offer.

Taking place at Coppenagh Farm, the festival will feature a packed programme of family entertainment, food demonstrations, outdoor eating, activities for children, live entertainment and plenty more.

The Coppenagh Coo 5km Carlow Chase will provide the perfect active start to the festival, bringing the local community together alongside visitors to Carlow for a morning of fun, fitness and friendly competition.

There will be a fantastic range of prizes up for grabs, with categories designed to recognise competitive runners, age-friendly participation, families and those who simply want to have some fun.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance to secure their place in the inaugural Coppenagh Coo 5km Carlow Chase and take advantage of the special advance-registration rates.

Every advance-registration single entry includes a commemorative race medal, event T-shirt (first 300 entries) and free entry to the Big Barn Bash – Family Food & Drink Festival, making it a fantastic-value day out for participants.
