Accredited Road Marshal Scheme The aim of the Accredited Marshal Scheme is to provide a safe, sustainable and effective method of traffic management.
Legislation was introduced in Northern Ireland in 2022 meaning that accredited marshals have the legal right to stop traffic at a cycling event taking place on open roads.
An accredited marshal is a someone who has been trained to use the 'Stop! Cycle Race' sign to legally stop and hold traffic to allow the safe passage of a cycle race on the open highway.
